Mobile Manor Domestic Water System – Upgrade/Replacement Project
Update #1; December 2020
Mobile Manor Water Co. (MMWC) is proceeding with the upgrade/replacement of our 60-year-old, antiquated water system. We are working in partnership with the Florida Rural Water Association (FRWA) for all engineering work related to the design, tendering and construction supervision. At this time, the FRWA are preparing plans and specifications, including a budget estimate. The FRWA is making application on behalf of MMWC to the State’s Florida Revolving Fund for grants to assist in financing this project. Preliminary information indicates that the State of Florida will cover 65% of the total cost. The upgrade/replacement will dramatically reduce the operational expense of the system, and the Board believes MMWC can cover its portion of the amortized cost without the need for increasing water rates. As residents are aware, the existing system components are sub-standard, prone to leaks and supply interruptions. The new distribution system will be state of the art- consist of new piping, valves and electronic meters. At this time, we are on schedule to meet critical milestones for government approval and construction could begin in late spring and be completed by late fall 2021. Ongoing updates will be shared on a regular basis, when available, on the Mobile Manor website. Full size drawings of the park site, illustrating the new distribution system will be posted in the office shortly for review.
